Parul University operates the EV Captain mobile application (hereinafter referred to as the "App"), designed exclusively for authorized campus drivers and shuttle operators within the Parul University campus EV Management System.
This Privacy Policy informs drivers, transport staff, and university personnel about our policies regarding the collection, use, disclosure, and protection of personal and operational information when using the App.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the minimum required information necessary to manage campus shuttle operations, dispatch passenger requests, and maintain fleet safety:
- Driver Profile & Account Data: Driver full name, university-issued email address, mobile phone number, employee/driver identification code, and assigned EV vehicle details (vehicle name, license/registration plate).
- Duty & Attendance Records: Daily morning check-in timestamps, duty status toggles (On-Duty / Off-Duty), and shift duration.
- Location & Telemetry Data: When the driver is marked On-Duty and actively executing campus trip dispatches, the App may access device GPS location coordinates in real-time to compute route progress, calculate estimated time of arrival (ETA), and ensure safe campus transport.
- Operational Trip Logs: Passenger pick-up and drop-off stand timestamps, trip start and completion events, and distance metrics.
2. How We Use Collected Information
The information gathered through EV Captain is utilized strictly for university campus transport operations:
- Assigning nearby passenger ride requests to on-duty campus EV drivers.
- Recording daily morning driver attendance and verifying shift readiness for fleet administration.
- Displaying live shuttle arrival estimates on passenger and campus dispatch screens.
- Ensuring campus transport safety, accountability, and operational efficiency.
- Diagnosing network connectivity or application errors.
Important: We do NOT sell, rent, monetize, or share driver personal or location data with any commercial third-party advertisers or marketing networks. All data remains within Parul University's secure campus infrastructure.
3. Data Retention & Security
We implement enterprise-grade technical, cryptographic, and organizational safeguards to ensure data security. All network transmissions between the App and our fleet server occur over secure Transport Layer Security (HTTPS/WSS). Driver session tokens are stored in hardware-backed encrypted storage on the device.
Driver attendance logs and trip records are retained only for the duration required by Parul University transport compliance and audit guidelines.
4. Account & Data Deletion Requests
In accordance with Google Play and Apple App Store user data policies, drivers have the right to request access to or deletion of their account records:
- In-Person Request: Drivers can visit the Parul University Campus Transport Desk / Fleet Administration Office during working hours to request account deactivation and data purging.
- Email Request: Alternatively, drivers can email the transport administration at ev.service@paruluniversity.ac.in with the subject line "EV Captain Account Deletion Request" including their registered Driver ID. Requests are processed within 7 business days.
5. Permissions Required by the App
- INTERNET & NETWORK STATE: Required to communicate with the fleet dispatch server, receive real-time trip notifications via WebSockets, and submit attendance status.
- LOCATION (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION): Used strictly while on duty to update shuttle position for passenger safety and routing accuracy.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect operational enhancements or regulatory updates. Any modifications will be posted directly to this webpage with an updated Effective Date.
